THE VISITORS CENTER

Entrance to Visitors Center - through a converted Coach House, now the Cathedral shop The Cathedral Gift Shop The terrace of the Visitors Center

In an enclosed site just 25m away from the West Front of the Cathedral may be found the Visitors Centre.
Behind the wall that divides the Inner Close from the churchyard it incorporates a 17th Century coach house with modern architecture to give a souvenir shop and refectory, in a courtyard setting.

A screen in the refectory displays 14th century glass fragments from the Great West Window, which was destroyed during the Civil War.  The building was designed to protect the archaeological remains that now lie beneath it, and provides much needed facilities for the half-million people who visit the cathedral each year.
