Park & Ride is a scheme whereby the visitor or commuter to Winchester can park their car in a secure car park on the edge of town, and hop on a bus to reach
most anywhere within the City Centre. There are currently THREE car parks. The St Catherine’s car park (SO23 9NP) has 591 spaces, whilst the Barfield site (SO23 9SQ) has 194 spaces. Both are
situated in Bar End Road (M3 Junction 10). A further 864 spaces are available at the South Winchester Park & Ride ( SO21 2FG) which is accessible from Junction 11 on the M3. Click here for a Map of the Park and Ride Bus Route. The cost includes FREE transport
into, around, and out of the City on the frequent bus service. The parks are patrolled and are also monitored by CCTV. Modern bus shelters are provided that have displays indicating when the next bus is
due. The St. Catherine’s and South Winchester sites include toilets, visitor information and help points. There is a ‘Bikeabout’ point at St Catherine’s where members may borrow a bike.
TIMETABLE
Buses operate Monday to Saturday only. During peak periods the low floor buses run every 10 minutes, and every 15 minutes off peak. On Saturdays they run every 15
minutes. No Park and Ride service operates on a Sunday, or Bank Holidays. For current information on prices and services, please check the
WINCHESTER CITY COUNCIL web site.
TICKETS
There are four ticket types available. A Daily Ticket, Annual Season Ticket, and a Pre-Payment Smart Card. An Off Peak Weekday Ticket is available after
10.30am. Concessions are available at the St Catherine’s and Barfield sites for FREE parking if you arrive after 1600 hrs, and on Saturdays only, a 3 hours parking only option, for a reduced
fee. =+=+=+= The ticket machines are Pay and Display. The Smart Cards, that offer discounted rates for regular users, are available from the Parking Office. =+=+=+= A nice feature of the scheme is
the facility for anyone to hop on one of the buses, and for a flat fee ride around the City and dismount at the stop of their choice. Buses stop at all Green Bus Stops around the City.
